Why the 50 Kč?
After 1993 the 50-crown was one of the most distinctive denominations in Czech circulation. As a bimetallic coin with a brass core and a cupronickel ring, it is one of the technically and visually most interesting circulation strikes of its era. From a collector's point of view, however, the deciding factor is the **mintage of individual years**.

How to recognise a rare year
Identification on the 50-crown is straightforward: check the year and the grade. Not every year is collector-interesting — only those struck in genuinely limited numbers.
| Year | Mintage | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1998 | 28,000 pcs | One of the rarest years |
| 2000 | 29,000 pcs | A very rare year |
| 2001 | 19,000 pcs | The rarest year — extremely sought after |
Current value guidance
Grade is decisive for the 50-crown. The gap between a circulated piece and an uncirculated coin with full mint lustre can be several times over.
| Year | Price 1/1 | Price 0/0 |
|---|---|---|
| 1998 | 600 Kč | 1,800 Kč |
| 2000 | 2,000 Kč | 5,000 Kč |
| 2001 | on request | on request |
Collector variants
Alongside low-mintage years there are other points of interest tracked by more advanced collectors. Most often these are various mint errors or minor deviations in the technical execution.
- Eccentric placement of the bimetallic core
- Rotated obverse / reverse axis
- Pattern and transitional pieces from the Hamburg → Czech Mint period
This is where an expert opinion pays off, because a minor deviation can carry a markedly higher collector value than an ordinary example of the same year.
